Fraud

Attempts at fraud are not always successful. Many people have developed a healthy suspicion which can protect them from fraud in particular situations. Three aspects need to come together for an attempted fraud to be successful:

  • Characteristics of fraud: the perpetrator tries to unsettle, persuade or deceive his victim.
  • Characteristics of victim: the potential victim demonstrates a lack of self-confidence and can therefore be influenced easily. Or has exaggerated self-esteem and therefore behaves thoughtlessly.
  • Situations of fraud: the victim is in particular living conditions, feels euphoric with happiness or depressed, for example, because he has suffered or is under stress at work.

Find out more about these aspects on the SCP’s website www.den-trick-kenne-ich.ch.
